Kelly named to ETBU Dean’s List
Brittney Kelley of Cleburne has been recognized by East Texas Baptist University for outstanding academic achievement during the 2009 spring semester with the release of the spring Dean’s List with Honors.

Four named to UNT president’s list
DENTON — Four students from Cleburne were named to the President’s Honor Roll at the University of North Texas for the 2009 spring semester. To be named to the honor roll, undergraduates must complete at least 12 academic hours with a perfect 4.0 grade point average.
The students are Diann Morton Choate, Joshua Spicer Hardin, Josh D. McNutt and Lindsey M. Thames.

Grandview student honored for math excellence
Kimberly Whitaker of Grandview had been recognized by the United States Achievement Academy as a student of excellence in math.
Whitaker, a student at Rio Vista High School was nominated for the award by her teacher, J. Corder.
She will appear in the USAA yearbook, which is published nationally.
Whitaker is the daughter of Lorretta F. Chandler of Grandview and the granddaughter of Troy and Peggy Crocker of Grandview and Clifton and Mary Harris of Monahans.

UNT names dean’s list honorees
DENTON — Several area students were among those named to the dean’s list at the University of North Texas for the spring semester. To be named to the Dean’s List, undergraduates must complete at least 12 academic hours with a grade point average of 3.5 to 3.9.
Cleburne students named to the list were Beth A McCutchen, Amanda K. Morgan, Jayde Derek Rice, Amy Christine Tuley and Kamille Rose Valerio.
Other students were Kasi C Brown of Godley, Samantha JoAnn Nichols of Rio Vista, and Shirley Lynette Lewis and Clifton B. Robinson Jr. of Venus.

Smith named TCU scholar
Emily Lauren Smith of Cleburne was named a TCU Scholar for the fall semester of 2008 and the spring semester of 2009.
To be eligible for this honor, students must achieve a GPA of 4.0 for the semester. She was also named to the Dean’s Honor List each semester in recognition of scholastic achievement in the College of Science and Engineering.
She is a member of Psi Chi, the National Honor Society in Psychology, and Sigma Delta Pi, the National Collegiate Hispanic Honor Society and serves as the secretary of each at Texas Christian University.
Emily is a senior child psychology major and Spanish minor, and she is doing independent study with the director of the Institute of Child Development.
She is the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Wade H. Smith.
