Alvarado grad completes Air Force training



Air Force Reserve Airman 1st Class Christopher W. Arndt graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.

Arndt completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills.

Airmen who complete basic training earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force.

He is the son of Candice Arndt of Alvarado and a 2005 graduate of Alvarado High School.

Grandview grad completes infantry training



Army Pvt. Matthew T. Padgett has graduated from basic infantry training at Fort Benning, Columbus, Ga.

During the nine weeks of training, Padgett received training in drill and ceremonies, weapons, map reading, tactics, military courtesy, military justice, physical fitness, first aid, and Army history, core values and traditions.

Additional training included development of basic combat skills and battlefield operations and tactics, and experiencing use of various weapons and weapons defenses available to the infantry crewman.

He is the son of Brenda and Dennis Padgett and grandson of Ann Parker, all of Grandview and a 2008 graduate of Grandview High School.

Locke graduates from Army basic



Army Reserve Pvt. Serina J. Locke has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C.

During the nine weeks of training, Locke studied the Army mission, history, tradition and core values, physical fitness, and received instruction and practice in basic combat skills, military weapons, chemical warfare and bayonet training, drill and ceremony, marching, rifle marksmanship, armed and unarmed combat, map reading, field tactics, military courtesy, military justice system, basic first aid, foot marches, and field training exercises.

She is the daughter of Jeff Thornton of Fort Worth and granddaughter of Terry Thornton of Cleburne.
