Meals-on-Wheels adds route in Joshua

Meals-on-Wheels of Johnson & Ellis Counties has expanded its services by adding a third route in Joshua.

“Because of the growing number of persons we are serving, an additional route was added on Tuesday,” said Tracy Robinson, client services director. “The addition of the third route will help both volunteers and clients, alike, making meal delivery quicker.”

Noontime meal delivery to Joshua residents takes place Monday through Friday.

“In order to meet the needs in all our Johnson County areas, we still need help from the communities we serve, particularly during the summer months,” said Whitney Patterson, volunteer coordinator. “We want to be sure that the homebound are being checked on daily, especially during the heat of the summer months.”

Prepared meals are picked up daily and served between 11 a.m. and noon, with delivery times taking no longer than 45 minutes.

Volunteers are provided with detailed directions and instructions, and help when they can, whether it is weekly, a couple of times a month, or simply on an as needed basis.

To volunteer or to suggest someone who could benefit from Meals-on-Wheels, call 817-558-2840 or visit www.servingthechildrenofyesterday.org.
