Cleburne police arrested a 22-year-old Cleburne man Saturday after he allegedly twice fired a gun near his ex-girlfriend and two other people. Police have not released the name of the man or his three victims.

A Cleburne police officer heard two gunshots originating west of Hulen Park about 4:50 a.m., according to reports.

The man shot twice at his girlfriend, and she left the area in a Dodge Neon to drive to the police station, according to a dispatch the officer received soon after hearing the shots.

The officer saw and stopped a vehicle matching the description a few minutes later. The woman, her cousin and a friend were in the car. The woman said she had dated the man for two years and lived with him a year, and they had a 3-month-old child together, but they recently broke up.

The woman said she was slightly intoxicated and went to her ex-boyfriend’s house to retrieve property she left behind after moving out.

The man told her to leave, pushed her down, and at some point, pulled a silver handgun, which he waved about and pointed at the three present, the woman said.

The man fired the gun into the ground twice, according to reports. The second shot sent rocks flying, which hit one of the two people accompanying the woman. The man fired the gun about five feet and three feet from the three present, according to reports.

Police found a Ruger P94 handgun at the man’s house and recovered a shell casing. Police took the man into custody on a charge of deadly conduct and transported him to the Johnson County Corrections Center.
