Reward offered in slaying of DPS trooper

A $30,000 reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest and grand jury indictment of a suspect in the shooting death of a Department of Public Safety trooper Tuesday night.

Law enforcement officers throughout the state are looking for Brandon Wayne Robertson, 37, a suspect in the fatal shooting of DPS trooper James Scott Burns.

Funds for the reward were donated by Oak Farms Dairies, Hunt Petroleum, the Bowie County District Attorney's Office, the Cass County District Attorney's Office and the Marion County District Attorney's Office.

The shooting occurred during a traffic stop in Marion County near Lake O’ the Pines.

Robertson was last seen driving a blue Dodge Intrepid with Texas license plate 039-LCG. He is described as a white male with green eyes, red hair and tattoos on both calves. Robertson is 6-2 and weighs 250 pounds.

Anyone with information about the whereabouts of Robertson or his vehicle should immediately call DPS toll free at 1-888-244-0827 or 1-888-244-0829.

The reward will remain in force until Oct. 30.
