Cleburne police arrested a 19-year-old Cleburne man Tuesday night on a charge of injury to a child, a first-degree felony. Joshua McCommas is charged with injury to his 7-week-old son. The child, whose name has not been released, suffered a broken femur, broken wrist and multiple broken ribs.
Cook Children’s Medical Center contacted the Cleburne Police Department on Sunday about the child’s injuries. The department immediately launched an investigation, which revealed that McCommas had caused the injuries, according to a CPD release.
Police arrested McCommas and notified Johnson County Child Protective Services, which is also investigating the case. CPS workers placed the child in foster care after his release from the hospital where he will stay pending the investigation’s outcome. Police booked McCommas into the Johnson County Corrections Center where he remains on a $100,000 bond.
