The city of Joshua could welcome an extension of the Johnson County adult probation office after the council Thursday passed a resolution supporting the possible expansion.
City Manager Paulette Hartman said the county asked Joshua and other cities in the county to pass a resolution expressing their interest in being considered for an expansion site.
Judge William C. Bosworth of the 413th District Court made a presentation to the council in February on behalf of the probation office because it needs additional office space for probation officers, Hartman said.
The council also approved three gas well permits for new pad sites in a Joshua neighborhood.
“This was tabled back in November because Chesapeake was planning to access the site through the Joshua Meadows neighborhood,” Hartman said. “Chesapeake came back with an alternate route that doesn’t go through the neighborhood, so we approved the gas well permits.”
Three people spoke at the meeting during a public participation segment about a letter received from a garbage collection company contracted by the city.
Some of the residents received letters from IESI about past-due bills and other items, Hartman said.
“The council didn’t take any action because it wasn’t on the agenda, but it’s definitely something we’ll look into,” Hartman said.
The council also approved a concept plan for the Joshua Station development, which will be a mixed-use development including sites for grocery stores, restaurants, town homes and a future rail station, Hartman said.
