If this is recovery, we’re in trouble

Dear Editor:

Obama’s media claims a major recovery is under way.

Doubtful; consider this.

Pay cuts are not tracked by the Bureau of Labor Statistics, but it does track the total weekly pay for production workers, which covers 80 percent of the U.S. workforce.

It has fallen for nine consecutive months, a 400 percent plus increase over the previous record of a two month decline during the 44 years the Bureau has tracked labor statistics.

People who are still working are having their pay cut while producing more, and when the five-year option adjustable rate mortgages arrive next year, it will become rougher.

About 46 percent of current ARMs are 30 days past due while only 12 percent of them have been reset to higher payments. Unemployment continues to rise.

The liberal’s TV advertisements are saying that universal health care has failed to become law for a hundred years. Well, duh.

If the American people didn’t want it why should it become law?

Are today’s Democrats representing some other ideology than a democratic republic?

The liberals deride those who protest their excesses and laugh at our attempts to get Congress to represent U.S. as the Constitution dictates.

Just how did Obama get the health care bill through the House?

He got the AMA behind him by promising to stop the upcoming 21 percent cut in Medicare payments to MDs.

The drug industry was promised a 10 year maximum cut in prices of $80 billion, a very small portion of medicine’s expected $3 trillion cost over the next 10 years.

Obama also promised to continue the ban on cheaper Canadian drugs.

AARP was the biggest winner.

They have changed from being a advocacy group to an insurance company over the years, one of several reasons I canceled my membership years ago.

They were one of the largest suppliers of medigap insurance, the high cost insurance supplement that takes over where Medicare stops paying.

But President Bush got the Medicare Advantage Program passed, which offered a cheaper subsidized version, which then lost AARP some 10 million senior subscribers.

Obama promised to cut the subsidy for the MAP forcing the seniors back to medigap.

To get a cheaper health plan for Americans, Obama has raised the price of coverage and drugs.

And if you look at the health care system currently, you will see that there is not going to be nearly enough personnel and infrastructure to handle an increase of 46 million new patients [NBC’s latest estimate].

But not to worry, the new amnesty bill will make it even less likely that you can get necessary treatment after the liberals allow any desiring citizen of Mexico to immigrate here.

According to CNN the upcoming amnesty bill includes several onerous provisions.

Among them is: legal status after 24 hours without a complete background check; the American taxpayers will pay for all the attorneys representing the illegal aliens; permanent ‘temporary‘visas can be renewed indefinitely; illegal alien gang members, all 30,000 plus, are eligible for 24 hour amnesty; illegal aliens won’t have to pay “back taxes;” and the Senate version gives free instate tuition to illegal aliens plus the right to cut line in front of all legal immigrant applicants from their countries who have been in line for years.

And finally we will give Mexico billions of dollars to raise their standard of living, via schools, infrastructure and assorted welfare programs, etc. to attempt to discourage the illegal immigration of their population.

Like the last gun bill, Chet Edwards votes no after he knows the bill is going to pass — deviously smart politician.

Edwards, we see beyond your words

Dear Editor:

I would like to take this opportunity to publicly say, “Thanks, but no thanks” to Congressman Edwards for his recent, less than genuine vote of “no” on health care bill (HR 3962), that passed the U.S. House of Representatives.

Congressman Edwards told us, “I will make my decision, only after speaking with my constituents from all walks of life, during the August recess.”

Congressman Edwards waited until the last day in Washington, D.C., to make his decision.

We, constituents of District 17, see that we need to contact Nancy Pelosi, to address our concerns.

By Congressman Edwards’ own actions, it is Nancy Pelosi that has the final say, where his decision making process is concerned.

In reference to HR 3962, Congressman Edwards voted against recommitting this bill. Meaning he voted in favor to clear the hurdles for this bill to receive its final vote. He voted for the bill, before he voted against it.

Congressman Edwards also voted against the Stupak-Pitts Amendment, which would basically ban taxpayer funding for abortions. I’m glad to see that despite Congressman Edwards, this vital amendment passed!

I would like to challenge Congressman Edwards to publicly supply a list of his colleagues that he worked so hard with to help persuade them to a “no” vote, seeing as how Congressman Edwards has issued such an outright disapproval of HR 3962.

I know it would be a great show of “transparency.” On the other hand, this may be a challenge that Congressman Edwards is unwilling or unable to take me up on.

Congressman Edwards represents District 17, but Congressman Edwards does and has not represented the constituents of District 17.

I would also like to strongly urge Mayor Ken Shetter of Burleson to reconsider any future public commendations for Congressman Edwards on the support he has for veterans.

Not only did Congressman Edwards remain silent when Janet Napolitano, DHS, name our veterans as possible terroristic threats to the U.S. and when the VA Death Books were sent to our veterans. As far as the new VA hospital, it is the veterans themselves and fellow constituents of District 17 who will pay for this hospital with taxpayer dollars.

Mayor Shetter should come to realize that by his own actions and words of commending Congressman Edwards, he has only condemned himself in the eyes of many citizens of Burleson and surrounding areas.

I should know, the BTP e-mail roster base consists of 60 percent to 65 percent veterans; they number into the thousands.

If Congressman Edwards wants to support and honor our veterans, he should first and foremost do the same as them.

Simply hold the U.S. Constitution that he swore to protect and defend, just like our veterans, above all else, especially over the Obama socialistic agenda and his party.

Veterans and fellow constituents of District 17 are no longer fooled by the double talk of a liberal, lying, Obama supporting, Pelosi petting, U.S. Congressman such as Chet Edwards.

Both Congressman Edwards and Mayor Shetter should try to enjoy the days they have left in public office for they are limited, and “We the People” are coming.

Angela Cox

BTP chairman and founder, Burleson

Editor’s note: The VA Death Book is a reference to a workbook, “Your Life, Your Choices,” distributed by the VA designed to help veterans prepare a living will.
