Dear Editor:
The article that was written about the award won at the courthouse only tells half the story. The reason Johnson County Public works can be in the position to maintain these buildings well enough to win awards is because of the leadership that runs this county. Not every county has a commissioners court that provides the personnel and funds that are necessary to maintain these historical buildings.
This is the reason that the Historical Commission inspects these buildings yearly and hands out awards to those counties that are making the best efforts. It takes a team effort to accomplish the work that it takes to be able to provide these beautiful buildings for the taxpayers. Commissioners court provides the personnel and budget for the public works director. The public works director is the appointed figure who supervises and delegates the individuals to get the job done. Then it takes hard working employees to take pride in the work that they do. It takes a team effort because individuals can’t get it done by themselves.
From the commissioners court to the custodians, and everybody in between, thanks for what you do to make Johnson County a leader.
