12/24/06 Letters to the editor

Thanks to Bush family for years of service

Dear Editor:

Editor’s note: This is an open letter to residents of Johnson County

You may or may not know that the Texaco service station, better know as Bush’s Texaco, on the corner of West Henderson and Douglas streets will be ending many years of outstanding service to our residents at the end of December. Tom, before his death, his wife, Gundy Bush, and their son, Andy have been going out of their way to meet the needs of not only their regular customers but also the elderly and needy for many years.
In today’s busy world many of the family-owned business are slowly disappearing, and we will miss their friendly, personal touch. We wish to let them know that many people will miss them and we wish them happy trails.

Fred and Ruth Brown

Thanks from Gerard PTA

Dear Editor:

On behalf of Gerard PTA, we would like to thank our community for their generous support for our fall festival, which was held in October.
We are very grateful for the donations, monetary donations and silent auction items that all of the area businesses gave to the 2006 Gerard Fall Festival. These items are an invaluable part of our fall festival.
A special thanks to the many parents, teachers and staff for working the booths, donating food and supporting this event. We would also like to thank the students for their wonderful attitudes and attendance.
This fall festival was a huge success, and that is because of all of your support! Thank you very much!
