Edwards thanks voters
Dear Editor:
I want to express my gratitude to the residents of Johnson County for giving me the privilege of working for you in Congress for the next two years. I have never made a lot of promises, but I intend to continue working hard on a bipartisan basis to be an effective voice for us in Washington.
I am humbled and deeply grateful for the 49 percent of the vote I received from Republicans, independents and Democrats in Johnson County. At the same time, I respect all those who chose to support another candidate and respect them for choosing to be involved in our democracy.
Now the election is over, and I intend to work for all the people of our district, regardless of which candidate they supported in the Nov. 7 election. As always, my door will be open to all the residents of the 17th district.
I intend to do everything one person can do to try to reduce the petty partisan bickering in Washington and to encourage members of Congress to work together for the good of our country.
We are truly blessed to live in a nation where people of good faith working together can make a positive difference for our communities and our country’s future. Thank you.
Sincerely,
U.S. Rep. Chet Edwards
D-Waco
Thanks from Cleburne Public Library
Dear Editor:
On behalf of Library Director Tina Williams and myself, we would like to take a moment to sincerely thank the area businesses and groups that, when contacted, generously donated items to be used as part of the library’s first ever Fall Festival.
These people were kind and supportive of an often overlooked, yet extremely valuable community resource. Much hard work by the library board, Friends of the Cleburne Public Library, and our dedicated staff, plus all the generous donations made this event an extremely successful fundraiser for the library.
We also take this opportunity to graciously thank all persons in the community who continue, through their patronage, to support their local public library. The library prides itself on being a treasure trove of information and resources, and for it to continue to thrive and grow, community involvement is required. So, again, we extend thanks to all our patrons and community supporters, the library could not function without either.
Thank you,
Nikki Perkins
Children’s librarian
Thanks to Cleburne Fire Department
Editor’s note: This is an open letter to the Cleburne Fire Department.
To our local firemen,
We are taking this public way of saying how much we appreciate the firemen in Cleburne. You have been there for us several times over the past few years, and we just want you to know how much that means to us. You have been prompt in coming to our aid and always you have shown us respect and kindness. Cleburne can be proud of you.
Jack H. and Dorothy Smith
Cleburne
