CABC thanks residents, sponsors



Dear Editor:



Editor’s note: This is an open letter to the residents of Cleburne and the supporters of Cleburne High School athletics.



Since the inception of the Cleburne Athletic Booster Club, we as a board felt it was very important as a booster club to support our student athletic programs at Cleburne High with not only attendance at games but with financial support as well. We want to take this opportunity to thank all of the corporate supporters as well as the residents of Cleburne for their generous donations to CABC.

Our goal of financial fundraising was a lofty one, but after only three fundraisers we are close to our goal with six more fundraisers to go. It is the purpose through the bylaws of the CABC to promote community support of all CHS athletes, to raise funds for all CHS athletics programs and to encourage and enable charitable donations to the Cleburne ISD athletic department for promotion of special projects.

This letter will also let the residents of Cleburne know that as of this date the following funds have been spent on the athletics programs at CHS:

Girls cross country shoes, $1,200; golf team practice facility, $1,500; boys and girls cross country time clock, $500; baseball, three-reel mower and workman wages, $6,400; swimming warm-up suits, $2,408; girls cross country, $2,500; boys cross country, $2,120; all girls sports for weight equipment in the girls field house, $915; girls basketball, $2,400; football washer and dryer, $5,000; all sports, boys weight room, $19,500; weight lifting for power lifting, $2,500; volleyball, buses for playoff game, $1,420.60; and softball batting cage, net and pitching machine, $2,400 for a total of $50,763.60.

Streets need repair, not golf course



Dear Editor:



After driving around town and experiencing the condition of the roadways, I would like to know why our city council voted to spend several million dollars on the golf course rather than our poor streets.

Can any council person actually justify this?

Proud of voters in Johnson County



Dear Editor:



What a wonderful county we live in. I am so proud of the voters in Johnson County. They were not fooled by all the rhetoric of the foolish political left. You folks that weren’t fooled will not have to hang your head in shame when you see a military man after they are forced to run back home like cowards. You will not have to lose sleep because you are a part of the killing of babies by abortion procedures.

You won’t have to explain why we were hit with another tax hike. You won’t have to feel guilty because you or your neighbor was not able to defend your family because your guns for self-defense were taken away from you. You won’t have to defend your position concerning a little bug in lieu of exploring for oil on our own turf and have to depend on the foreigners, mostly enemies of the USA.

You won’t have to lie to your children or grandchildren why America has lost its credibility in the world. And why the ultra-left America-hating United Nations is directing our nation over our own constitution. No, you Johnson County folks who voted for the benefit of our nation and not greed are to be commended and shall rest well at night. Good news abounds however because “God rules the nations” not any political party.

CHS students should be allowed to park free



Dear Editor:



A recent Times-Review story stated all Cleburne High School students who do not have a campus parking tag, which costs $25, on their vehicle will have a wheel boot placed on their front tire. The boot will not be removed until a fine is paid, according to a school spokesperson.

This is terrible. Students at Cleburne High School should be allowed to park free of charge. Give them a permit for identification purposes, sure, but don’t charge for it. This smacks of “owing one’s soul to the company store,” with CISD being the company store.
