9/20 Letters to the Editor
A lie’s a lie no matter what you call it
Dear Editor:
President Obama said, referring to his grandmother’s hip-replacement surgery, ”That’s where I think you just get into some very difficult moral issues,” during the April 14, 2009, New York Times interview. “The chronically ill and those toward the end of their lives are accounting for potentially 80 percent of the total health-care bill out there.”
Mandatory end-of-life counseling requirement reportedly has been removed from drafts of the bill.
That, though, isn’t the greatest threat for the ill elderly.
Medicare already overrides, on a daily basis, physician-ordered treatment it deems inappropriate.
Patients have other options because Medicare is not the only program available, which will change under the public option health plan.
In the Portsmouth, N.H., town meeting on Aug. 11, 2009, President Obama went on to say, “The idea is pretty straightforward, which is if we’ve got a panel of experts, health experts, doctors, who can provide guidelines to doctors and patients about what procedures work best in what situations, and find ways to reduce, for example the number of tests that people take — these aren’t going to be forced on people, but they will help guide how the delivery system works so that you are getting higher quality care.”
Remember my past reference to “cost-benefit analysis”?
They will probably call it “comparative effectiveness,” but it results in the same thing.
It is not that tests will be forced on people; it is that treatment will be withheld from people.
If the public option insurer does not authorize payment for disapproved treatment recommended by the physician, then this will result in treatment being withheld for many of the elderly patients — remember the 80 percent Obama mentioned above.
As Mussolini wrote, “The fascist concept of life stresses the importance of the state and accepts the individual only in so far as his interests coincide with the state.”
Comparative effectiveness raises the financial interest of the state above the value of a mere citizen’s life.
And who will guide and control this power? Congress?
Not likely because they no longer work for us in their eyes, and only their opinions are correct.
We the taxpayers are simply a resource to finance their boondoggles. Remember we — veterans, etc. — are now labeled terrorists by Obama’s czars, and if we disagree with Congress, Pelosi and her gang call us Nazis, etc.
Rep. Wilson said it correctly. “You lie!”
There are other names for lying — prevaricating, fibbing, etc, but the result is the same.
What they say, no matter how they say it — if it isn’t true, then it is an untruth or a lie.
Now Wilson wasn’t polite or respectful, but he did call it correctly. Why you ask?
Well Rep. Wilson knew, as did President Obama, VP Biden, and Rep. Pelosi, that the amendments introduced by Republicans to prevent illegal immigrants from getting on the public option health care and the refusal to pay for abortions were nullified by the Democrats who removed all provisions for enforcement of these two amendments.
Don’t worry about the illegal immigrant problem because total amnesty is next as soon as they pass Obama care, according to Reid..
I hope you saw the ACORN worker on TV advising the pseudo prostitute and her pimp on how to get a loan for their brothel, avoid taxes and how to get the underage girls, coming up from South America, working as prostitutes past the officials, schools, tax men, etc.
About 12 months ago ACORN was proudly trumpeting the fact that their people were trained by candidate Barack Obama during his first job.
Remember?
Call your congressman often.

Time to run the whole bunch out of office
Dear Editor:
“Czars: 1) an emperor, 2) any person having great or unlimited power.”
Those are two of the definitions for the word “czar” shown in Webster’s “New World College Dictionary.”
To think that all along I thought Obama was elected to serve as president of the United States, and, acting in concert with the elected Senate and House of Representatives, would conduct the business of our great nation.
Who are these guys, the czars? Where did they come from? Who elected them?
Best of all, who foots their payroll and perks?
It’s understandable that the president needs a few advisers.
He can’t be all things to all people, though his actions indicate he would have us believe otherwise.
And he needs eyes and ears to help him keep informed of things going on that are important to the office of our top government official.
In the past, previous presidents have had a few of them, but the sheer number in this administration leads me to wonder what is Obama doing personally other than listening to his advisers?
The second definition for “czar” causes me great concern because this administration has already shown little regard for the will of the people but has plowed ahead with its own agenda regardless of the demonstrated opposition.
It’s time to reveal the number of people acting as advisers to President Obama, regardless of what they are called.
And not only reveal the number, but give us names, responsibilities and the compensation they receive for their services.
Also, there are all kinds of security screenings given in order to enter the White House. What security clearances have these individuals undergone?
For an administration that promised transparency, things continue to grow more and more cloudy. The actions and total disregard for public concern makes we wonder just what it will take to get people to consider impeaching this entire Washington bunch and calling a special election.
And while we are at it, let’s bring in all new blood.
The kind of men and women who remember they are being elected to represent U.S. and not to serve their own ideas, the kind who will not succumb to the wiles of Washington politics but who really want to make things better for all.

Thanks to CISD
Dear Editor:
I would like to thank the Cleburne ISD for allowing students to meet around the flagpoles to celebrate our religious freedom, where students can thank God for creating us, sending his son, Jesus, to us, and dying on the cross to pay the penalty for our sins, then coming back to life on the third day and going back to heaven to be at the right hand of God, awaiting us who believe and receive God’s saving grace.
In this day of unrest, turmoil, confusion, distrust and even hatred, I am so glad we can be comforted to know that God never changes.
He loves us and he wants us to love him with all of our mind, soul and being, and to show our love for him by loving our fellow man.
The week of Sept. 20-26 has been designated as State Wide Week of Prayer.
On Wednesday, all students are able to voluntarily meet at the flagpole of their school at about 7 a.m. to offer prayer.
I would like to challenge and invite all parents, grandparents, business leaders, clergymen and anyone else I have not named to gather in support of this activity.
My church, Nolan River Road Baptist Church, located next to the high school, will once again meet to pray.
We want the students and teachers at the high school to see us and know we are praying for them.
We pray to God to bless each one of them. We pray for each teacher and student to seek wisdom from God in everything they attempt to do every day.
Likewise, we pray for the students and teachers at all campuses, for the people in administration, and for the school board members.
Our children are our future. They need our support, love, guidance and instruction.
More importantly, they need to know God on an intimate basis.
We also lift up our city, county, state, and federal officials in prayer.
God bless America!

How much worse will we become?
Dear Editor:
Monday, Sept. 14, 2009 — a snapshot of America.
Yale graduate student, Annie Le’s body is found bricked into a wall.
Recording artist Kanye West storms onto the stage of MTV’s Video Music Awards to interrupt winner Taylor Swift’s acceptance speech so he can explain why he thinks Beyonce Knowles should have won.
Tennis diva Serena Williams apologizes for her obscenity-laden tirade against a line judge she thinks made a bad call.
Rep. Joe Wilson’s “You lie!” outburst continues to reverberate, with many in his party backing up his boorish outburst.
What is going on in this country? Where have we flown so far off of the track?
Wilson’s outburst, Williams’ temper tantrum, and perennial bad boy West’s rudeness would seem to have nothing to do with the tragic murder of Ms. Le, but somehow there is a connection and that connection is a very disturbing one.
When a lack of general civility and respect for the rights of others is the norm, how far are we from acts of savagery such as was seen at Yale University?
That Wilson could dishonor not only the government he serves, but the president of the United States as well is bad enough.
When his colleagues in his party defend his actions, we have certainly reached a nadir in American society. This is not the America our forefathers envisioned.
The childish behavior evidenced by both sides of the aisle during President Obama’s speech was more like a Friday night high school football game than an address by a sitting president concerning one of our nation’s most pressing problems.
I can recall reading not long ago about fist fights breaking out during a debate among South Korea’s legislators. I shook my head in dismay.
Now I can see our own society has apparently sunk to that same abysmal level. I am ashamed.
How long will it be before the Joe Wilsons on either side of the aisle prove their points by violence rather than civil debate?
Worse, how far are we from Wilson’s disrespectful outburst to violence perpetrated against our president?
Grow up, America. Before it’s too late.
