Fix the health-care system
Dear Editor:

We have to fix the health-care system, and this seems like the only way to do it. To think that children don’t get medical care purely because of their socioeconomic status is terrible. This is a moral issue that must be addressed now.

Thanks to Allen, board
Dear Editor:

I want to express my gratitude to Brad Allen for a job well done in his six years as a Cleburne ISD school board member. Brad has always done his best in making decisions related to our teachers and students. Here is a man who has given tirelessly of his time and effort and asked for nothing in return. So not only has he not gotten a thank you, his name and his family’s along with the rest of the board and the school administration is blasted as being incompetent and up to dirty tricks. I for one am tired of all the back stabbing dirty politics.
We seem to have forgotten that this type of persecution is exactly what founded this country. Our ancestors came here for a fresh start and a belief that we could all disagree but at then end of the day we would make a decision and move forward. This incessant bickering accomplishes nothing but to give our district a bad name.
I propose to all of you that we get together and pull on the rope in the same direction instead of against each other. We resolve our differences and move forward.
Thank you board and Brad for a job well done. You get all the blame but none of the accolades, so thank you for giving of your time and effort to make our district a better place.

Free speech, religion thoughts on July Fourth
Dear Editor:

How wonderful is free speech? Very wonderful and taken for granted, and yet it makes us so vulnerable to those who abuse the privilege and easily get away with it. One has to wonder how much of this freedom was intended by our founding fathers. I doubt their intention was to include free and wide distribution of pornography, filthy language, treasonable literature and loose control of TV, radio and Internet material.
The most disturbing aspect of this is that the public has now accepted all of this indecency as permissible and even to be expected and is actually stimulated and applauded by many. Because a politically suspect court of elders decided that this is all included under the free speech column, we have taken these rulings as the last word and now, no one will bother to challenge these rulings. Our forefathers must weep.
Religious freedom has also been a strong incentive to come here, and it is right that church and state are separated. However, this doesn’t mean to give free reign to bad influences. Nonseparation is demonstrated in Muslim countries where the Islamic archaic and brutal shari’a laws take precedent over all things. I consider the Ten Commandments as a basis for living in this world with all kinds of believers and nonbelievers. Its rules for life, as listed, apply very well to the religious and nonreligious people roaming the earth.
As an American citizen, I must stand up and howl mightily about the allowance of large numbers of Muslims with undetermined allegiances to reside in the U.S. Our immigration system must be barely functional as it seems from reliable reports that several million practicing Muslims do live here, legally or not.
There are a number of heavy Muslim lobbying groups, including C.A.I.R., a semi-secret Islamic organization of considerable size and influence, which seem to operate without hindrance or even inspection from anyone while gaining entrance to the offices of many high moguls in government, finance and industry.
I understand that some of this group have been acclaimed as friends and entertained at the White House. All Muslims having allegiance to the U.S. and wishing to be accepted by loyal and alert Americans should stand up and speak out against the so-called extremists, while acclaiming their intention to learn, respect and obey American laws and leave the barbaric aspects of their culture, including shari’a laws, behind. Who decides who can enter the U.S. and remain?
Of all the wonderful freedoms endowed upon us, the originally precious ones regarding speech and religion could possible contribute to our demise. The ability of evil ones to lawfully aid and procreate immorality and legally practice terrorism and government overthrow while hiding in religious cloaks and sanctuaries may sound absurd to Americans living with plenty but I’ll guarantee you that I’m sane and happy and optimistic but very concerned.
I would challenge everyone to pay close attention and study these issues. European countries have been victimized through these means. Should we talk to our congressmen about Great Britain’s present predicament or not worry about it? Technically, the Brits are right next door. Are arrogant threats of government overthrow by immigrants considered as treasonous in either Britain or the U.S.?
Some readers of my letters have labeled me as opinionated. I agree, but I certainly hope that my opinions are accepted as sincere and nonbelligerent. I listen to others’ opinions with interest and inquiry. Aren’t we blessed with America’s freedoms? That’s my two bits for now.

Cheney needs to be removed
Dear Editor:

Dick Cheney has no intention of doing anything but increase the size of his bank account and increase his power base. He does not care about the American people, and he does not care about our Constitution. He believes he is above the law, and he is in the wrong position to have those beliefs. It is detrimental that we remove somebody with those beliefs in that area of power.
