6/21 Letters to the Editor

Thanks to Rotary for placing flags around town

Dear Editor:

Kudos to Cleburne Rotary Club members, who took time out of their daily lives to place flags around Cleburne City Hall, Johnson County Courthouse and downtown area in celebration of Flag Day on June 14. Old Glory waved proudly at citizens and visitors alike, conveying the great pride and patriotism in the hearts of Cleburne and Johnson County residents.

Additionally, we thank all the residents and businesses that regularly display our country’s flag.

Please be aware that the American Legion, The American Legion Auxiliary and the Sons of the American Legion will soon schedule a flag disposal ceremony with the Civil Air Patrol to properly and respectfully dispose of flags no longer serviceable.

Flags may be dropped off at American Legion Post 50 at 313 W. Chambers.

Our post conducted a flag etiquette program at Little Peoples’ Academy in Joshua on Friday, celebrating 232 years of the Stars and Stripes waving proudly over the United States.

The ceremony included Betsy Ross, George Washington and Uncle Sam, played by July Hume, Ken Peters Jr. and Joel Franklin.

As always, qualified veterans, female relatives and male descendants of veterans are invited to join one of the three American Legion family organizations as we continue to serve both God and country.

God Bless America!

Marty Peters

II Division President

American Legion Auxiliary
