6/17/2007 Letters to the Editor

Thanks from Lowe’s

Dear Editor:

Lowe’s of Cleburne would like to thank all the professionals and their affiliates for their enthusiastic participation in the family safety and protection event held June 9 at the store’s location on North Main Street. The carnival-like event was a tremendous success.

Over 300 Lowe’s No. 48 race cars were built by children in the Build and Grow program.

Three hundred people drove around the Martinsville racetrack in the Lowe’s No. 48 simulator car. Hundreds of pictures were taken with the No. 48 Team Lowe’s NASCAR. Over 500 fingerprint and ID kits were passed out by the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office.

Again, the associates at Lowe’s of Cleburne would like to thank each and every sponsor, vendor and customer who participated in the community event.

Thanks from JC Cemetery Association

Dear Editor:

On behalf of Sheriff Bob Alford, Deputy James Sloan and the many inmates who have volunteered over the past 18 years for the cemetery work crew and the Johnson County Cemetery Association, I wish to thank the Cleburne Quilter’s Guild for another gift from your hearts.

Last time, I used the money to buy lunches for the work crew at least once a month during mowing season. They choose what they want to eat and remind me when it’s time again. Their usual choice is chicken, cookies and soda.

They are now doing 31 cemeteries and that is more than one crew can do.

This year, we had to buy a big mower ($6,667). It’s people like you who make it possible to continue this great community service. Again, thank you.

Doris Lanfear,

President, Johnson County

Cemetery Association

Thanks to Alvarado VFW Post

Dear Editor:

It’s easy to think, “thank you,” but so often we forget to say it.

A couple of weeks ago, the cemetery inmate work crew was mowing at Bethany Rest when they noticed the earlier winds had destroyed the American flag flying high over Bobby Pollard’s resting place.

Deputy James Sloan called the VFW Post in Alvarado and they gladly gave them a new flag.

It was impressive the work crew was a part of it. It makes me proud. A special thank you to the VFW Post in Alvarado.

Sincerely,

Doris Lanfear,

President, Johnson County

Cemetery Association
