Thanks from King’s Daughters
Dear Editor:
We wish to extend a very special thank you to Cleburne and the many businesses and individuals who participated in our 2006 Goodfellows program. There are many who helped to make Goodfellows a large success; and because of your generosity, Cleburne circles of the International Order of the King’s Daughters and Sons were able to provide Christmas gift boxes for 410 children.
First of all, thank you to the Times-Review Managing Editor Dale Gosser and Publisher Kay Helms for helping us share our monetary need with the community. Thank you also to First Baptist Church for letting us use your CAB Hall to interview the families, pack our Goodfellows boxes and distribute the packed boxes to the families.
Thank you to our Spanish translators who helped us interview our Goodfellows families and to the Boy Scouts who volunteered to assist the families on the day we distributed the boxes. We also appreciate the Beta Club and Exchangettes from Cleburne High School, Gerard and Coleman elementaries, C’Est La Vie Salon and the Camp Fire girls who donated the majority of the toys for our Goodfellows boxes.
We are very grateful to the following dentists who donated toothbrushes and toothpaste for each child: Dr. Sid Davis, Dr. Dallas Dill, Dr. Michael Glover, Dr. Kelly, Long Family Dental and Dr. Sherwood. In addition, thank you to Domino’s Pizza, which donated pizza to our circle members on packing day and to McDonald’s, which donated sausage biscuits to help feed our volunteers on delivery day. Finally, thank you for all of the corporate donations and personal donations from citizens that allowed us to purchase clothing. All of you helped to make 2006 a wonderful Christmas for many deserving children.
Congratulations to the following seven Cleburne circles of the International Order of the King’s Daughters and Sons: Friendship, Girls of Grace, Hearts of Gold, In His Name, Lend a Hand, Victory and Watch and Work. Every member of the above circles helped raise money, interview families, shop for the families and pack the Goodfellows boxes. You are wonderful.
Thank you, Cleburne.

City Union president
Kiwanis Club thanks pancake supper supporters
Dear Editor:
It is with tremendous gratitude that we can acknowledge the supporters of our 52nd annual Pancake Supper. The Kiwanis mission is to change the world one child and one community at a time. Kiwanis members are service-minded men and women who are united in their commitment and compassion for others. And with the partnership with our supporters, we are able to do that.
During the holidays, the Cleburne Kiwanis Club was able to furnish several families with meals and toys. With child abuse on the rise, we have joined forces with other local organizations that deal with abused children. Our BUG program (Bringing Up Grades) is up and running at Coleman Elementary School, and we are really excited about the positive response from the children and teachers.
Thanks to the numerous businesses that sponsored ads, donated foods and everyone who joined us that evening for pancakes, fun and prizes.

Another year of money well spent
Dear Editor:
I would like to say that the Yellow Jackets have made this another year of good investments for the Rudzavice family. My wife and I have gone to every home basketball game this season and some of the away games, and it’s been money well spent.
There’s nothing better than watching these kids play their hearts out until the end of a game. There have been a lot of games where they have been won or lost at the very end, which makes it exciting. It’s kind of nice to see these kids have so much passion for the game and desire to win.
The tears from the eyes after a tough loss is proof. This is always a testament to the coaching. I just want to say thanks to these kids and coaches who work with these players every day. As always I am looking forward to baseball and softball season.
I must say that coach Ross Taylor better watch out because the softball team is trying to steal some of the spotlight the baseball team has had over the years. Watch out, coach. Coaches, thanks for the hard work and dedication you show our kids. You are appreciated.
Robert Rudzavice
