Walls president says hospital is not closing doors



The headline in the Jan. 20 edition of the Times-Review, “Plug Pulled on ‘Walls’ Hospital,” and the lead sentence, ‘The prognosis isn’t good for “Harris Methodist Walls Regional Hospital” was in my opinion misleading.

Although the paper was referring to the hospital name change, there were many people who were concerned their community hospital was going to close. I want to assure you “the plug” has not been pulled, and the prognosis is very good for our hospital.

There are many positive things happening at our hospital. Customer satisfaction with the hospital has reached record highs, we have a beautiful new emergency room, and the hospital welcomed Dr. Andrew Anyadiegwu, our new pulmonologist, in November.

There will be two new family practice physicians coming this summer, and we are actively recruiting more physicians. Because of the positive changes, we have plans to expand our surgery department.

This is an exciting time for our hospital. Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Cleburne, is more than a name change. It’s an opportunity for our hospital to get the most out of being part of a health care system whose focus is to improve quality and customer service to our patients. Our prognosis is more than good — it’s great!
