District meets wrap up events

At the District 15-2A meet on Thursday in Rio Vista, numerous athletes from local schools punched their tickets to the regional meet.

To wrap up the field events, Godley’s Courtney Bryant took first in the event by clearing four feet, 10 inches, and Grandview’s Melissa Stafford placed second after clearing the same height.

In the girls’ 800-meter relay, Grandview’s team of Katie Block, Martin, Lyncoln Tekell and Angie Hughes took first with a time of 1:51.88.

Grandview’s team of Martin, Hughes, Taylor Russell and Molly Block won the 1,600-meter relay with a time of 4:47.94.

In the 100-meter hurdles, Godley’s Ashley Allen won the event with a time of 15.77 seconds, and Grandview’s Melody Mayse was second in 16.63 seconds.

In the 300-meter hurdles, Mayse won with a time of 47.76 seconds, and Allen was third in 49.53 seconds.

In the boys’ high jump, Grandview’s Brant Rice cleared six feet, five inches to win first place, and teammate Terrell Williams cleared the same mark to finish in second.

In the 800-relay, Godley’s team of Landry Martinez, Victor Cerna, Vradley Cerna and Riley Good finished first with a time of 1:31.11.

Godley’s team of Fernando Conchola, Logan Winnett, Cerna and Ty Young won the mile relay with a time of 3:32.12, and Rio Vista’s team of Anthony Escarzga, Aaron Rodrick, Jacob Stanley and Chaz Clinkscales finished third with a time of 3:39.36.

In the 110-meter hurdles, Keene’s Kristopher Hartung placed second in 16.2 seconds, and Godley’s Chris Holmes was third in 16.4 seconds.

In the 300-meter hurdles, Hartung won the race with a time of 42.81 seconds, Homes was second in 43.11 seconds and Clinkscales finished in third place with a time of 43.28.

In the 100-meter dash, Grandview’s Daniel Spencer placed third in 10.66 seconds, just .03 seconds off the first-place time of 10.63 run by Dallas Life’s Michael Williams, and .01 seconds behind Maypearl’s Chris Tipton, who finished second.

In the 200-meter dash, Godley’s Martinez finished in second with a time of 22.81 and Victor Cerna was third in 22.97 seconds.

Vradley Cerna was third in 22.97 seconds.

In the 400-meter dash, Spencer edged Godley’s Young for first place with a time of 49.83.

Young finished in 49.93.

In the 800-meter run, Winnett placed second in 2:10.06 and Godley’s Dakota Duty was third in 2:15.46.

In the 1,600-meter run, Godley’s Dylan Littlejohn placed second with a time of 4:48.84, and Keene’s Caleb Masarira was third in 5:03.52.

In the 400-meter relay, Godley’s team of Victor Cerna, Vradley Cerna, Martinez and Good won first with a time of 43.43, and Grandview’s team of Beau Blakeney, Garrett Morris, Rice and Spencer finished in third with a time of 44.09.

 

District 3-5A

 

Several athletes from Burleson High School qualified for regionals with their performances at the District 3-5A meet on Thursday.

In the girls’ 800-meter run, Burleson’s Andie Sharp finished third with a time of 2:31.14.

In the girls’ 3,200-meter run, Burleson’s Cleo Yasenchack placed third with a time of 12:28.72.

In the girls’ 100-meter hurdles, Burleson’s Kayla Tubig was third with a time of 16.61, and she also finished third in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 47.94.

In the girls’ 400-meter relay, the team of Taylor Wilborn, Anissa Atkinson, Brenna Moretz and Christina Falcone took third place with a time of 49.41.

In the 800-meter relay, the team of Kara Petty, Kanthony Hughes, Atkinson and Falcone placed third in 1:46.26.

Shannel Young placed third in the triple jump for Burleson with a mark of 33 feet, eight inches.

Blake Jakobsson won the shotput competiton with a toss of 55 feet, 9 1/2 inches, and teammates Clint Harris and Derek Baldeschwiler finished second and third with throws of 50 feet, six inches and 48 feet, one inch, respectively.

In the 200-meter dash, Burleson’s Henry Jones placed third with a time of 22.98.

Burleson’s Hank Smith won the 400-meter dash with a time of 50.15, and teammate Chance Moore was third with a time of 51.05.

In the 800, Burleson’s Kendall Rockers placed second with a time of 2:02.89, and he also won the 1,600-meter run with a time of 4:32.02.

In the 3,200, Burleson’s Connor Wallace placed third with a time of 10:51.88.

In the boys’ mile relay, Burleson’s team of Chance Moore, Daniel Sauceda, Smith and Rockers finished first with a time of 3:22.77.

In the team standings, the Burleson boys placed second with 143 points behind first-place Abilene (146), and the girls finished in fourth with 77 points.
