Scholarship endowment received

Special to the Times-Review

JOSHUA The Joshua ISD Education Foundation Inc. has received an endowment to establish the Sue Martin Student Council Scholarship.

Sue Martin, a former teacher and student council sponsor at Joshua High School, died in 1999.

She was awarded Teacher of the Year in 1998.

The endowment was established by in her memory by her husband, Tom Martin, to recognize her commitment and dedication to student leadership.

It will provide a minimum of two $250 scholarships each year for freshmen, sophomores and juniors to participate in student council advanced summer workshops.

Applications for the scholarships will be available on the Foundation’s Web site at www.joshuaeducationfoundation.org or at Joshua High School.

“The Foundation is pleased to receive this endowment gift to perpetuate Mrs. Martin’s work with students. It is reassuring to know there will be funds available indefinitely for students to help students become leaders,” said foundation President Dr. Jeffrey Pool.

“Student council is an important student leadership opportunity, and this endowment will ensure that students will have an opportunity to participate in leadership workshops,” said Superintendent Ray Dane.

More information about the Foundation’s programs or how to donate visit www.joshuaeducationfoundation.org or call Taffy Ward at 682-429-6675 or Dane at 817-426-7500 ext. 1005.
