House fire cause remains unknown

Editor’s note: The information in the following story is taken from public records on file with the Cleburne police and fire departments.

The cause of a Friday fire in a home on the 400 block of West Wilson Street remains to be determined.

Cleburne firefighters responded to the home at 11:10 a.m.

Firefighters discovered fire venting from the back corner of the home and pulled a hose into the house to make an interior attack. Firefighters knocked the fire down with 300 gallons of water and used 1,200 gallons of water and five gallons of foam overall during their time on scene.

Firefighters remained on scene for more than two hours. Overhaul proved lengthy because of fire extention into the attic and other areas of the home.

CareFlite paramedics checked out the home’s occupant, who initially refused transport to the hospital.

Two hours later he changed his mind and was transported to Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Cleburne by ambulance.

Details of his condition have not been released.

Traffic accidents

Cleburne police responded to two recent traffic accidents, neither of which resulted in injuries.

Police responded to the parking lot of the Cleburne Walmart at 10:30 a.m. on Nov. 17.

An unknown vehicle struck a Dodge Ram parked in the lot and fled the scene.

A Cleburne woman received two citations after an accident in the 100 block of Indian Hills Road on Thursday.

The woman, driving a Mitsubishi Outlander eastbound on Indian Hills Road, veered off the road and struck a small tree before coming to a stop.

The woman left and walked home but was located by police a short time later. The woman told police she veered off the road because she was distracted by her cell phone.

Police issued the woman citations for unsafe movement to the right and leaving the scene of an accident.

Police responded to the 300 block of West Heard Street on Thursday.

Someone stole tools, computer equipment, radios and other items and later pawned the items.

Investigations continues into the case with no arrests having been made.
