Two hospitalized in Sunday wrecks in Cleburne
Editor’s note: The information in the following story is taken from public records on file at the Cleburne Police Department.
Cleburne police responded to two traffic accidents Sunday that resulted in the transport of two Cleburne residents to John Peter Smith Hospital.
The first wreck occurred at 4:57 p.m. and involved a single vehicle.
Bertha Garcia-Morales, 38, was traveling westbound in the 2000 block of West Henderson Street in a Chevrolet Avalanche when the accident occurred.
Garcia-Morales failed to control her speed, which caused the truck to flip over near the intersection of Henderson and Walls streets, according to reports.
A CareFlite ambulance transported her to the hospital in unknown condition. She received citations for failure to control speed and not having a drivers license.
Police answered a second accident call on West Henderson Street at 9:18 p.m. Sunday.
A GMC Sierra traveling westbound on West Henderson Street failed to yield the right of way while turning in front of an eastbound Yamaha motorcycle.
The incident caused the Yamaha driver to collide with the Sierra. Neither occupant of the truck suffered injury, but police cited the driver for failure to yield right of way.
The Yamaha driver, Brent Kevin Givens, 43, was transported to the hospital by CareFlite ambulance. Details of his condition have not been released.
A Tuesday accident involving two trucks carrying four people resulted in no injuries.
The accident occurred at 6:06 p.m. near the intersection of U.S. 67 and Buffalo Street.
The driver of a Dodge Ram traveling eastbound on U.S. 67 rounded a curve approaching Buffalo Street. The driver told police his shoe stuck to the gas pedal, causing him to accelerate, lose control of the truck, and fish tail into a Chevrolet Colorado, which was following behind him in the same lane.
Theft calls
Police responded to four theft calls on Tuesday.
Police responded to a business on the 2000 block of East Henderson Street at 8:01 a.m. A man told police that someone cut a hole in the wall of the business and stole about $2,0000 worth of tools.
Police responded to a home in the 200 block of Heath Street at 12:15 p.m. A woman reported that someone broke into the home while it was being remodeled and stole a television, some tools and other items.
An officer patrolling the 2200 block of Lakeshore Drive at 5:10 p.m. found a vehicle parked with no one around it. A computer check revealed that the vehicle had been reported stolen out of Hood County.
Police impounded the vehicle and notified the Hood County Sheriff’s Office.
At 6:56 p.m., a man entered a convenience store on the 1400 block of West Henderson Street, grabbed two 30-pack cases of Keystone Lite beer and fled.
