Light Up The Night concerts in Hulen Park begin with Bill White

Layland Museum begins its Light Up the Night concerts from 8-9 p.m. Tuesday in the Hulen Park gazebo with Bill White.

Known as a guitar man, White will emphasize the instrument of the guitar, bringing his uncle’s guitar with him.

His uncle was Gentleman Jim Reeves, known for such hits as “He’ll Have to Go,” “Welcome to My World,” “Am I Losing You?” and others.

White will sing some of these.

White was named 2007 Entertainer of the Year by the Texas International Music Association.

He also serves on the advisory board of the Texas Country Music Hall of Fame in Carthage.

He has appeared on the “Johnnie High Show,” “Opry Show” with Porter Wagoner, “Stars of the Grand Ole Opry” at the White House in 2000, at many state fairs from Alabama to Florida to Arizona, and at many civic clubs and private engagements.

He has recorded five CDs, which will be for sale.

He will sing a mixture of country, gospel and ballads of the ’50s and ’60s.

White graduated from Baylor University and has a Doctor of Ministry degree from Southwestern Seminary.

His pastorates include Springtown, Crowley, Orange, Victoria and Dallas-Grand Prairie.

Today he leads retreats, preaches and entertains in numerous venues.

Layland Museum, a department of the City of Cleburne, sponsors these free concerts in the park to promote a sense of community and love of music.

Attendees are welcome to bring lawn chairs, dogs, children, friends, family and picnics.
