JC stops scheduled on Road 2 Recovery route

A bicycle procession consisting of more than 60 injured veterans, the Wounded Warriors Road 2 Recovery Texas Challenge, will pass through Johnson County on Friday and Saturday.

Several events are planned in Cleburne, Alvarado and Keene. Officials have encouraged residents to line the bike route with signs and flags to show support for the veterans.

The anticipated schedule for the local events is:

Friday, April 3

zx About 1:30 p.m., pass through Blum and cross Texas 174.

zx 2:30 p.m., arrive at Smith Middle School in Cleburne. An assembly, presentation by Cleburne Mayor Ted Reynolds and band performance is scheduled.

zx 3:30 p.m., leave Smith Middle School with a Cleburne Police Department escort and proceed down Country Club Road to Hillsboro Street.

zx About 3:40 p.m., pass Hulen Park.

zx About 3:45 p.m., pass the Guinn Justice Center.

zx About 3:50 p.m., pass American Legion Post 50.

zx About 4:00 p.m., turn north off of Chambers Street onto Caddo Street.

zx 4 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., travel north on Caddo and Main Streets to Comfort Inn.

zx 5:30 p.m., travel by limousine to American Legion Post 426 in Alvarado.

zx 6 p.m., banquet and entertainment at Post 426.



Saturday, April 4

zx 6:30 a.m. to 8 a.m., breakfast at Comfort Inn.

zx 8:30 a.m., depart Comfort Inn with a police escort and proceed to Katherine P. Raines Drive exiting at Old Betsy Road to be met by a Keene Police Department escort.

zx About 9 a.m., stop in Keene to receive a proclamation.

zx 9:10 a.m. continue down Old Betsy Road heading to Mansfield and Arlington.
