Mote accused of making sexual contact with 7-year-old
A man accused of engaging in sexual contact with a 7-year-old girl in October 2005 appeared in court Thursday and was advised to hire an attorney before his next hearing in 30 days.
The victim in the case against Robin Adair Mote, 54, of Joshua did not come forth with the accusation until recently, said Brent Huffman, assistant to the district attorney of Johnson County.
“Delayed outcries generally happen because the kids are scared and for some reason it takes a little while to come out,” Huffman said.
Johnson County sheriff deputies arrested Mote on Dec. 21, 2008. He is charged with one count of indecency with a child and remains out of police custody on a $25,000 bond.
“I want to reemphasize that if you violate any of your bond conditions, you will be arrested,” Judge Wayne Bridewell of the 249th District Court of Johnson County told Mote on Thursday. “I expect you to strictly adhere to the bond requirements and advise you to hire an attorney before your case is reset in 30 days.”
The court has yet to set a trial date for the case.
