Gala already breaking records

This year’s Black and White Gala has already broken two records — the number of people attending and the amount of money raised going into the gala.

“We have sold 70 tables so we know we’ll have at least 700 people,” said Terri Archer, gala chairwoman. “We had to have them rediagram the room and add more tables.”

This year’s gala, the 16th annual gala, begins at 6 p.m. Saturday with a reception at the Renaissance Worthington Hotel in Fort Worth. Dinner is served at 7 p.m.

The live auction begins at 9 p.m., followed by live music provided by Cuvée.

The big item the gala is raising money for this year is a digital mammography unit for Harris Methodist Walls Regional Hospital. Money raised from the event will be donated to the hospital for the unit.

Other organizations the event helps each year include Shots for Tots, Know Your PSA, HOPE Clinic and Mammograms are a Must!

Events this year will include silent and live auctions, the Big Board auction and raffles. Items being auctioned include trips, jewelry and more.

“We have a big weeklong trip to Mexico, hunting trip to Wagnor Ranch, a couple of fishing trips, a trip to D.C. which includes a tour of the White House with Chet Edwards, and more,” Archer said.

“I hope that everybody has a faulous time,” Archer said. “I hope that we can raise more money than ever so that we can purchase a digital mammography machine and still fund our other programs.”

Next year’s gala will be at the Omni Hotel in Fort Worth.

“We know that we’re going to continue growing, and we have to do something different next year,” Archer said.
