— 2010 got off to a cold and wet start.
On Jan. 9, the temperature dipped to 11 degrees, which is the coldest temperature we have experienced since 1996.
The average temperature for the month was 2.5 degrees below average. The high temperature for January was 73, which occurred on the Jan. 19.
January precipitation was 4.17 inches, which is 2.27 inches above average. On Jan. 29, the area was hit with a round of severe thunderstorms accompanied with high winds and heavy rains.
A total of 3.28 inches of rain was received on Jan. 29. Rainfall was recorded on 8 days during the month.

Happy birthday, Pat
Today’s birthday of the city’s namesake, Maj. Gen. Patrick Cleburne, will not be celebrated in any official capacity, according to city and chamber of commerce officials.

Caddo Indians topic of Museum Gallery Sunday
They lived here once with a strong presence and powerful voice, now diminished--the Caddo Indians. Layland Museum will present its annual cultural history event, “Caddo Indians,” at 2:30 p.m. March 28 in the new Cleburne Conference Center at 1501 W. Henderson. The event is free.
