Grandview residents attend health fair
On Jan. 3, a health fair was held at the Grandview Community Center. Marcia Dyche and Gavin Sexton welcomed the guests and got them started on a health knowledge test which was then graded.
Guests could have their blood pressure checked, have a blood glucose screening, have their body mass index calculated and ask any questions they might have regarding their health.
There were healthy food samples and a video giving information on the Coronary Health Improvement Project which assists people with those New Year’s resolutions to lose weight and improve their health in 2010.
Larry Blewett explained the program and invited the guests to join the upcoming Healthy Beginnings Seminar which began Monday.
While at the health fair, guests visited Mattie Harvey for a good foot massage and Sandy Taylor gave shoulder massages.
If you are interested in the CHIP program, call Blewett at 817-556-3235 or Jonathan Armstrong Sr. at 817-933-6838. Healthy Beginnings will be held Monday and Jan. 21 at Grandview First Baptist Church. The last four classes will be held on Jan. 25, 28 and Feb. 1 and 4 at Grandview Seventh-day Adventist Church. The cost is $40 for materials, which couples can share.
