Sheriff's deputies recover stolen property in Grandview
Johnson County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested a man on a charge of burglary on Saturday after he confessed to burglarizing a storage shed and a workshop.
Deputies learned about the incident after the owner of the property saw some of his belongings in a rented apartment above a combination workshop and storage building he owned.
The incident occurred in the 5200 block of East Cross Timbers Road in rural Grandview.
Deputies contacted one of the apartment’s occupants, Lacy Webb, 31, who gave them consent to search the apartment.
Deputies located the items seen by the victim and found additional items belonging to him.
The merchandise included computer equipment and miscellaneous items belonging to the victim, according to reports.
Webb told deputies her husband, Jayson McCann, 30, brought the items into the apartment and told her he had retrieved the merchandise from a building.
During an interview with JCSO detectives, McCann confessed to burglarizing the storage shed and workshop and taking the items in question.
Deputies arrested McCann on two counts of burglary of a building and outstanding traffic warrants. He remains jailed at the Johnson County Law Enforcement Center on a $17,600 bond.
Deputies also arrested Webb on traffic-related warrants.
