Moore remembered for her dedication to Grandview

Lifelong Grandview resident Linda Moore, 67, passed away at her home on Wednesday.

Moore served five years on the Grandview City Council, serving as mayor pro tem for part of that time.

Moore went on to serve as interim mayor of the city for a time in 2007 after Mayor Brandon Wright resigned to take a job in another city.

Moore also served on the Grandview Planning and Zoning Board and city housing authority board, said Sherry Reeves, Grandview administrative assistant.

“She was just a super, super person,” Reeves said. “And we’re all going to miss her.”

Other city officials said they felt the same.

“She was very nice and easygoing,” said Councilman Simon Reyna. “But she was a good person to have on the council. She cared a lot about the city and wanted to do her part for it.”

Nita Redmon, owner of Pop and Gran’s Antiques and More, located two doors down from city hall, served on the Grandview Historical Preservation Committee and recalled Moore’s dedication to Grandview.

“What sticks out to me is that she was always fair and would listen,” Redmon said. “Anytime I had an issue before the council, Linda always wanted to hear the whole story. She didn’t make up her mind until she listened to everyone’s side.”

Barbara LeBaron, a former councilwoman who served during Moore’s tenure, said Moore retained her sense of humor to the end.

“One of our last conversations, a day or so before she died, we were laughing,” LeBaron said. “Linda joked that when I get to heaven with her she hopes we do a better job of running that place than we did the city council. And we laughed and remembered the good times. She did a really good job though, she really loved Grandview.”

Grandview resident Sharon Boshon called Moore a wonderful friend whom she will miss.

“We knew each other all of our lives, since we were babies,” Boshon said, “Linda was a strong person, very strong. She’d never ask anyone for anything if there was any way she could do it herself. She loved Grandview, and she loved her family, and she loved sports of all kinds. She had a grandson who played for Grandview from junior high through this year, and she loved going to his games. This year, when she got sick, was the first time she missed a game.”
