WAXAHACHIE — The Cleburne boys junior varsity golf team won a tournament in Waxahachie on Monday.
The team shot a 392.
Ryan Phipps came in second place overall with a 95.
Other scores were Daniel Ball with a 97, Brendon Ash with a 98, Bradley Rasmussen with a 103 and Parker Clovis with a 109.
Lady Eagle places in top 20 at state golf meet

The Cleburne boys’ golf team returned from the Class 4A area golf meet in Abilene, and although the Yellow Jackets didn’t advance, it was a stepping stone for a program on the rise.

The Cleburne boys’ golf team and one Lady Jacket are heading to the regional golf meet for the first time in Coach Pat McHargue’s tenure after a thrilling district meet on Tuesday and Wednesday at Squaw Valley Golf Course in Glen Rose.
Golf pro Johnny Pilcher at Cleburne Golf Links will be holding golf classes for beginners or novice players starting April 1.
Cleburne golf taking strides to be an elite program
The Cleburne High School golf program is taking steps towards evolving from a run-of-the-mill program to one of the region’s elite. While the results may not indicate that right away with first- or second-place finishes, the Yellow Jackets have continued to experience the early positive steps towards achieving that goal.
Cleburne hosted a spring kickoff golf tournament at Cleburne Golf Links on Friday and Saturday, and the Yellow Jacket boys’ team came in sixth place while the girls’ team finished seventh.
