Winnsboro downs Godley, 61-38

Godley’s season came to an on Wednesday at the hands of No. 2 Winnsboro, 61-38, at Terrell High School.

The No. 2 Lady Raiders lived up to their lofty ranking in the first half by connecting on 8-of-13 3-pointers in the first two quarters.

Winnsboro led, 23-6, after the first quarter and 44-11 at the half.

“In the first half, we only had one field goal,” Godley head coach Mark Chauveaux said. “I felt like we were confident going into the game, but that wasn’t the case once the ball was tipped.

“Defensively, we weren’t there, and offensively, we couldn’t find the bucket. After the first half, it was pretty much game over and we just waited too late to show up.”

The trip to the regional quarterfinals was the second in as many years for Godley (23-10).

Lindsey James led the Lady Cats with 10 points and the duo of Maelan Brown and Ashley Allen each had 7.
