Charles “Chuck” Gilliland, a law enforcement officer for 22 years, recently published “The Gospel of Matthew Through the Eyes of a Cop.” His words have become spiritual eye openers for readers.
“It is a devotional book with more than 90 lessons geared toward law enforcement, but applicable for all Christians,” he said. “Law enforcement is a mission field of epic proportions. There are over a million law enforcement officers in this country.
“Only about 10 percent of them profess to be Christians. Our alcoholism rate is double and our suicide rate, triple — with a divorce rate of 75 percent. It is a dark world.”
Gilliland, previously of Cleburne and a 1990 Tarleton State University graduate, attended the city of Dallas Police Academy before serving as a law enforcement officer in Southeast Dallas.
