Land management seminar registration still open

From agriculture tax exemptions to pond management, registration is still open for the Rural Land Management Seminar from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Saturday at the Cleburne Senior Center.

The workshop is designed for the new or small acreage landowner or anyone interested in learning about how to better manage land.

It is designed enable landowners to make sound land management decisions.

The seminar is tailored to provide assistance to landowners who are first time or new landowners, or those who grew up in a rural area, moved to urban cities for employment, and now want to move back to the farm or ranch.

Texas AgriLife Extension Service, Johnson County Farm Bureau, Bluebonnet RC&D and Natural Resources Conservation Services are host for the one-day seminar.

Topics include “Ag/Wildlife Exemptions,” by the Johnson County Central Appraisal District; “Wildlife Management,” by Texas Parks and Wildlife; “Septic Systems and Management,” by Texas AgriLife Extension Service; “Conservation Planning,” by United States Department of Agriculture-Natural Resources Conservation Service; “Landowner Rights”, and “Pond Management,” by Texas Agrilife Extension Service.

The program will conclude with a panel of experts question and answer session.

One continuing education unit in general will be offered for those who have a Texas Department of Agriculture pesticide applicator’s license.

Registration is $25 per person and $40 per couple, which includes refreshments, a catered meal and conference proceedings.

Participants are encouraged to contact the Texas AgriLife Extension, Johnson County Office or United States Department of Agriculture-Bluebonnet RC&D Office so the meal may be planned accordingly.

Late registration does not guarantee a meal or a copy of the conference proceedings.
