GODLEY — Godley Ag Boosters will sponsor an animal show clinic at 9 a.m. Saturday at the Godley High ag building.

The show is for dairy heifers, swine, goats and sheep, and nutritionist and health care experts will be on hand.

Godley FFA validation numbers are up 20 percent for the Johnson County Junior Livestock Show Feb. 25-28, according to Godley vocational ag teacher Troy Webb.

Fifty-two students will show swine, 48 will show dairy heifers, 27 will show sheep, and 36 will show goats.

“That’s the most validations we’ve had for the county show,” Webb said. “We have more kids interested. The main thing is educating people that this teaches students responsibility and caring for other things besides themselves.”

A number of Godley students have fared well at shows and area jackpots.

At Waco, Brittney Sanders won a savings bond with her dairy heifer. Logan May and Christian McDonald won their Boer goat classes.

Karen Zijlstra won the dairy heifer grand champion. She also placed third with her dairy heifer at a world show in Madison, Wisc.
