Both Cleburne middle schools and the TEAM School were among 25 percent of Texas schools that failed to meet adequate yearly progress standards, according to a preliminary report released by Texas Education Agency on Tuesday.
The report reflects whether school districts and individual schools are making adequate progress in reading, math and graduation, as dictated by the federal No Child Left Behind Act.
Smith Middle School missed AYP acceptance in reading and math and Wheat Middle School in reading. Team School missed because of graduation rates. All other CISD campuses besides Santa Fe Elementary met AYP standards. Santa Fe was not evaluated because it is a second-year school.
Cleburne ISD missed the AYP standards overall because of reading and math. Thirty-four percent of state school districts did not meet AYP standards.
This was the first year special education students have taken the newest versions of the state-mandated TAKS tests. Some special ed students formerly took alternative tests.
Joshua ISD also missed the AYP standards overall because of reading. JISD’s Accelerated Learning Center missed the standards because of graduation rate. All other Joshua campuses met the AYP standards.
Alvarado ISD missed the AYP standards because of math, the same reason Alvarado High School missed. Godley ISD missed the AYP standards because of reading and math.
Burleson, Grandview and Rio Vista met the AYP standards.
