Man arrested for burglarizing Grandview High field house

Law enforcement officials on Wednesday arrested a man who allegedly burglarized a field house at Grandview High School.

Johnson County Sheriff’s Office detectives, Grandview police and Grandview ISD officials worked together on the case.

JCSO deputies and Grandview police responded to GHS on Wednesday morning.

Someone burglarized the field house between 7:30 p.m. Tuesday and 6:30 a.m. Wednesday, a GHS football coach told officers.

Taken in the burglary were two laptop computers, three DVD players, three video systems, two large speakers and other items. The suspects also caused damage to the building.

At about 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, the football coach notified detectives with information that led them to two suspects.

Grandview and JCSO officers responded to a home in the 7200 block of County Road 305 to speak with the residents.

A search of the premises uncovered the stolen property in a shed on the property, according to reports. Police also found a video camera taken in the burglary in the room of Dylan Lee Watkins, 20, of Grandview, according to reports.

Police asked Watkins to remove his shoes because they appeared to be among the items stolen from GHS.

Police found what appeared to be marijuana in Watkins’ shoes, according to reports.

Police arrested Watkins on charges of burglary of a building and possession of marijuana.

His bond has been set at $5,000 on the first charge and $500 on the second.

Investigation into the matter remains ongoing and more arrests may be made, officials said.
