Fine arts students to present ‘Annie Get Your Gun’

BURLESON — Cleburne High School fine arts students will present “Annie Get Your Gun” in three performances beginning at 7 p.m. tonight at the Don Smith Performing Arts Center. Performances are also scheduled for 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday.

Admission is $10 for adults, $5 for students and senior citizens.

CISD Golden Passes will also be accepted for admission.

This year’s fine arts musical, with Irving Berlin tunes from the original Broadway production, tells the fictionalized story of sharpshooter Annie Oakley while showcasing the talents of the high school’s choir, theatre arts, band and art students.

Senior Seth Cunningham, whose credits include achievements in UIL One Act Play, vocal solo and ensemble and poetry and prose interpretation, will play sharpshooter Frank Butler, who soon finds himself as the target of Annie’s affections.

Keli Price, a fourth-grade teacher at Adams Elementary, plays two major roles in the production. She choreographed the production and plays Annie Oakley.

Her son, Austin, a fourth-grader at Adams, plays her brother, Little Jake.

Rounding out the members of the Oakleys are CHS students Anna and Bridgette Chandler.

Freshman Michael Bailey plays Buffalo Bill, who invites Annie to join his traveling Wild West Show after she bests all the competition at a local shooting match.

The cast also includes Kailee Lingo, Blake Wright, Caitlin Carver, James Guenthner, Jarrett Hubbard, Garrett Morgan, Kari Smith, Shivani Zaveri, Daniel Sisk, Ryan Nettik, Daisy Horta, Molly Crocker and Keli Long.

Making up the “Annie Get Your Gun” chorus are Sydney Anderson, Gloria Calderon, Kierston Green, Katie Gribble, Cheyenne Hennesay, Baileigh Jones, Pretti Love, Hailey McNutt, Katie Metcalf, Shianne Rivers, Ashley Rodriguez, Hayley Scarr, Colin Sides and Laura Wilson.

The production’s orchestra, conducted by CHS Band Director Jason Jones, comprises Lexy Hitchcock, Kaitlynn Curlee, Ariana Cryer, Elma Hernandez, Gerardo Castillo, Miriam Esparza, Katie Tanner, Hayley House, Cody Edwards, Jimmy Walters, Hillary McNutt, Brandon Sinde, Francisco Rodrigues, Mason Sweeney, Josh Newby, Destin Chapman, Kristen Hadley, Jared Nolan, Deryck Barrera, Steven Rizo and Gina Gomez.

Sets were created by CHS art students Joey Brush, Carlos Chavez, Scotty Diduch, Nelson Frias, Michael House, Travis Leach, Claudia Massey, Hilary Hagan, Lauren Hundley, Rachel Allen, Anna Chandler, Bridget Chandler, Ryan Moss, Braden Mullen, C.J. Ortega, Bryant Reyes, Vanessa Martinez, Kimberlyn McCoy, Rebecca Preston, Jacob Rice, Caroline Rugeley, Kari Smith, Mercedes Spann and Alex Swisher.

Set design was coordinated by CHS art teacher Jana Trimble.

Pam Elam, CHS choir director and chairman of the Fine Arts Department, is the producer. Kate Hicks directs.
