Christian actor, singer to appear at gymnastics program

Southwestern Adventist University will host 22 teams and more than 700 student gymnasts on its campus Wednesday through Saturday for Acrofest 2009: Facing the Giants.

The program will focus on gymnastics instruction, fellowship and community outreach.

“Facing the Giants” and “Fireproof” actor Jason McLeod will speak at 6:30 p.m. Friday during the Ana Laura concert in the Leiske-Pultar Gymnasium.

Ana Laura is a Christian contemporary artist whose song “Completely” was in the film “Facing the Giants.”

In honor of cancer awareness, the gymnastics teams will perform at four Joshua and Keene public school locations on Friday to promote healthy and active lifestyles.

In Joshua, the teams will appear at 1:30 p.m. in The Pit and at 2:15 p.m. in the basketball arena, both at Joshua High School.

In Keene, teams will appear at 1:30 p.m. at the Keene Elementary School and Keene High School gyms.

Acrofest will culminate with Homeshow at 6:30 p.m. Saturday.

More than 700 gymnasts will perform at the Leiske-Pultar Gymnasium.

Tickets will be sold at the door for $5. Doors open at 5:45 p.m. Seating is limited.

Free overflow seating will be in the Wharton Auditorium of the Mabee Center on Southwestern’s campus.
