The Cleburne High School Jacket Dancers were the featured performers during halftime festivities of Saturday’s Dallas Mavericks versus Oklahoma City Thunder basketball game.
The CHS group danced their way onto center court to perform before a crowd of 20,329 as the winners of the annual Mavericks Dance/Drill Team Competition. This was the second time for Cleburne to win the dance competition, having previously taken the championship in 2007.
Jacket Dancers sponsor Sally Maxey credited hard work and a great routine choreographed by Miss Tammy’s All-Star Company for the team win.
“These young ladies have great work ethic,” Maxey said. “We have worked extremely hard for several months to reach this goal. Watching them dance at halftime of the Mavericks game was amazing.”
“Credit also goes to the Jacket Dancers captain, Tara Mears, and the officers for their leadership.”
Members of the 2009-10 Jacket Dancers include lieutenants Ashleigh West, Stacie Folwell and Kaleigh Mangrum and squad members Taylor Cox, Lacey Crites, Bailey Cihak, Alli Anderson, Shy Simpson, Lauren Hanson, Macy Cook, Mercedes Sanchez, Jade Blair and Courtney Lee.
More than 20 high school teams from across Dallas and Fort Worth were entered in this year’s dance contest.
