Cleburne High School homecoming queen nominees revealed

A crown awaits Leslie Anderson, Taylor Booth, Reagan Brightwell, McKena Honnoll, Shanon McConnell or Sarah Rosser, the 2009 candidates for Cleburne High School Homecoming Queen.

The six seniors will be presented during Friday’s pregame activities, beginning at 7 p.m., and again at halftime, when 2008 Homecoming Queen Jordan House, now a freshman at Tarleton State University, passes on the title.

Anderson is a CHS student body officer who is also active in student council, student leadership, Beta Club and Exchangettes. She was a two-year member of the cheerleading squad and competes with the senior co-ed squad with Miss Tammy’s All-Star Company.

Anderson’s school activities have also included volunteering for several local agencies and projects including Meals-on-Wheels of Johnson and Ellis Counties, Thank a Soldier, Relay For Life, Whistle Stop Christmas, Operation Blessing and Salvation Army. She is a member of First Baptist Church of Cleburne. She plans to attend Lubbock Christian University after graduation to pursue a degree in elementary education. Her parents are Ray Anderson and Jill Anderson.

Booth is president of the CHS senior class and is a committee chairman in Exchangettes. She is a four-year member of student council and is involved in student leadership.

She performed for three years with the Jacket Dancers, serving as sophomore lieutenant and was a captain her junior year. She continues to compete with Miss Tammy’s All-Star Company and hopes to participate in the dance program at the University of North Texas, where she will major in business management. She is the daughter of Ronnie and Teresa Booth.

Brightwell serves as Senior Class Secretary and is a Student Council officer. She has served on the Student Council Leadership Team the past two years and is a member of Exchangettes. She also participated in Key Club and Junior Pride.

Brightwell competed two years in the Lady Jackets basketball program and was on the volleyball team as a freshman. She is an active member of Westhill Church Christ where she teaches the Sunday School class for two-year-olds and participates in the youth group. Following graduation she plans to attend Texas Tech University and major in elementary education. Her parents are Larry and Chrisanne Brightwell.

Honnoll is a member of student council and student leadership. She was a member of the Jacket Dancers for two years, serving as an officer as a sophomore. She was also a sophomore class officer and held a leadership position in Junior Pride.

She has won numerous national titles in dance and cheer competitions as a member of Miss Tammy’s All-Star Company, where she also teaches. She was selected as a 2010 senior ambassador for Krystal Image Photography. After graduation she plans to study fashion merchandising and marketing in Dallas. Her parents are Mr. and Mrs. Jeff Pakeltis.

McConnell is a four-year member of student council and is also involved in student leadership and Health Occupations Students of America. She has been the manager and trainer of the Jackets varsity baseball team the past three years.

Her school activities have included two years on the cheerleading squad and three years in FFA, in which she participated in the Johnson County Junior Livestock Show and was on the 2006-07 state-qualifying entomology team. Shanon works as a lifeguard and swim instructor at Splash Station. She plans to attend Lubbock Christian University to study pre-physical therapy, followed by graduate school at Texas Tech University to earn a master’s degree in physical therapy. Her parents are Rick and Becky McConnell.

Rosser has been a member of the CHS golf team since her freshman year and competed on the volleyball team for three years, receiving the ninth grade and JV squad’s Hustler awards. She was captain of the JV squad. She is a member of the North Texas Junior Golf Association and the North Texas Volleyball Association.

She was named Miss Golden Pride for 2009 by her fellow band members. Rosser is co-leader of the trumpet section, has played in the wind dnsemble since her sophomore year and has competed in UIL solo and ensemble. Her music honors also include Bandsman of the Week. Her school memberships include Beta Club and Exchangettes.

Rosser, daughter of Lance and De’Anna Rosser, plans to attend Texas Christian University, focusing on a degree in English in the hopes of a career as a sports journalist.
