Caught with his pants down

Man found walking without shoes or socks or shirt ...

Cleburne police responded to a Sunday call at 1:09 a.m. regarding a man wandering neighborhood streets au naturel.

Police soon after located the naked man strolling west on Barber Street.

They arrested Donald Patton Rice II, 28, of Cleburne on a charge of public intoxication.



Follow the evidence

Police responded to the 700 block of North Wilhite at 10:33 p.m. Friday on a hit and run. The driver of a Chevrolet Silverado travelling north on North Wilhite Street left the road and struck a mailbox and utility pole before fleeing the scene. Police followed the trail of fluid left on the road by the truck to Buffalo Street where they found the truck, abandoned.

Police responded to a second hit-and-run accident at 11:37 p.m. Saturday in the 300 block of Williams Street.

The driver of an unknown vehicle struck the left front side of a Ford Ranger, which was parked on the street unoccupied. The driver then fled the scene.



Gatorade grab

Police responded to Walmart on a theft call at 5:16 p.m. Monday. Store employees said two women left the store with numerous items they failed to pay for. Police found and identified Kendra Elane Galindo, 18, of Cleburne and Vanessa Ortiz, 17, of Cleburne a short time later and arrested both on charges of theft $500 to $1,500.

Police recovered $500.42 worth of stolen diapers, makeup, Gatorade and other items.



Theft and damage

Police responded to a home in the 600 block of North Anglin Street at 6:18 p.m. Monday on a burglary. Someone entered the home through a window and made off with a black cloth bag containing about $100 in loose coins. They also stole about $20 worth of food.

Another burglary occurred earlier the same day at 4 p.m. in the 500 block of Trinity Street.

Someone forced entry into the house. They stole a 42-inch LG flat screen TV, an XBOX 360 Elite game system, a .22-caliber Derringer chrome with a pearl handle and miscellaneous items of jewelry.

Police responded to a theft from a home in the 400 block of North Hyde Park Boulevard at 10:17 a.m. the same day. Someone stole two ladies bicycles from the front porch. One bike is green and white, the other purple and white.

Police responded to the 300 block of Chase Avenue on a theft call at 7:59 a.m. Sunday. Someone stole two window-unit air conditioners from a home.

Police responded to a burglary call at a home in the 200 block of Heath Street at 10:06 a.m. Saturday. Someone stole a Compaq Presario laptop from the house.

On Thursday, someone climbed through the window of a building in the 700 block of North Main Street and stole a 40-inch Samsung LCD flat-panel TV.

Police responded to an attempted-theft call in the 800 block of West Industrial Boulevard at 8:49 a.m. Friday. Someone damaged the ignition switch of a Polaris Arctic Cat while attempting to steal it.

Police responded to a similar call in the 1100 block of North Main Street at 7:59 a.m. Monday. Someone broke the driver’s side window of a 1998 blue Dodge Ram 3500. They also damaged the truck’s keyhole and ignition.

At 8:28 a.m. the same day, police responded to a criminal mischief call in the 1200 block of Lindsey Lane. Someone broke the mirror off of a 2008 Kawasaki Gility 125.



Cow crash

Cleburne firefighters responded to the 3200 block of North Main Street at 9:55 p.m. Saturday on an accident involving a cow.

Witnesses said the cow got loose from the sales barn at the Johnson County Sheriff’s Posse Grounds. Several people chased the cow for about an hour before it wandered into traffic on North Main Street where it was struck by a pickup.

The truck sustained moderate front-end damage. The driver was taken to Huguley Memorial Medical Center to be checked out. Additional details of his condition have not been released.

The cow fared less well. A forklift driver arrived to load his carcass onto a trailer.

Firefighters responded to a trash can on fire on North Buffalo Street at 7:28 p.m. the same day.

They arrived to find a 55-gallon plastic drum being used as a trash can with smoke and a little bit of flame showing. Firefighters extinguished the fire with about 50 gallons of water. The fire caused the trash can to melt down to the ground and it was deemed a total loss.

A woman driving by called 911 after she noticed the flaming trash can.
