A wakeboarding package, a trip to Canada and a half-time tour of the Dallas Mavericks locker room are just three items that will be featured in this year’s Black & White Gala live auction.
The Gala, which begins at 6 p.m. Aug. 7, returns for its second year at the Omni Hotel in Fort Worth.
“I’m excited. I couldn’t be happier with the ladies on the committee on what they’ve done,” said Julie Mahaffey, Gala chair.
Gala attendees who want to stay the night are urged to make hotel reservations now to ensure availability. To make reservations, call 817-535-6664 and say you are with Black & White Gala.
This year’s Black & White Gala will feature livelier music than in past years.
“Something new this year is that we have an 18-piece orchestra set up that will play throughout the evening,” Mahaffey said. “They’ll play all through dinner and everything so people can get up and dance because they’ll appeal to a broad part of the audience. They’ll play everything such as swing, big band and others. That’ll be fun.”
The silent and big board auctions will be held throughout the evening. Silent auction items include home décor, trips, art pieces, health and beauty items, photography packages and historical items.
The big board auction is a faster-paced silent auction, where bids are written on a dry erase board. Items in this year’s big board auction range from a trip to the Southern Rockies to a birthday party for 20 at the Cleburne High School baseball field.
Money raised by the event supports Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Cleburne and programs such as Shots for Tots, Know Your PSA, HOPE Clinic and Mammograms are a Must!
Tickets are still available. To purchase them, call Tammy Sims at 817-317-5244.
