Man arrested for leaving accident
Cleburne police arrested a man Thursday after he ran his GMC Sonoma into a telephone pole and fled the scene.
Omar Callejas Zuniga, 19, of Cleburne was driving eastbound on Olive Street about 5:30 a.m. Zuniga failed to control his speed and struck a pole when he was unable to navigate the curve onto Alvarado Street, according to reports.
Zuniga ran away but was soon located by police who arrested him on a charge of leaving the scene of an accident.
Theft, counterfeit and assault calls
A man came to the Cleburne Police Department at 3:40 p.m. Tuesday to report a theft by credit card.
The man told police someone used his Visa card to purchase a computer hard drive online.
The man said he believes the suspect may have gained his credit card number at a restaurant.
Earlier Tuesday, police responded to the Traveler’s Motel on North Main Street in reference to a theft. Employees told police a suspect rented a room and allegedly stole a freezer, TV and microwave when he left.
Police responded to a business on West Henderson Street Tuesday on a call involving counterfeit Devon Energy payroll checks. The business owner told police that a suspect cashed the fake payroll checks on several occasions between Nov. 3 and Dec. 23.
The total loss was more than $4,000, according to reports.
Police responded to Harris Methodist Walls Regional Hospital about 9 p.m. Tuesday on an assault call.
The victim told police he had been assaulted, but said he did not see his attacker and, therefore, could not give a description.
