Church of the Holy Comforter Episcopal Church recently shared a holiday meal with their neighbors, the employees and residents of the Johnson County Christian Lodge. The festive meal was prepared by church members and enjoyed by all. From the church’s Outreach Fund, a donation of $1,000 was presented to the lodge to support their ministry. The lodge, located at 10 N. Caddo in Cleburne, is a nonprofit organization supported by the gifts of local churches who recognize JCCL as a home missions ministry and resource center to the poor, displaced and homeless.
The Outreach Fund of Holy Comforter has supported many well-deserving causes through the years including a snack pack program at Coleman Elementary. This past year Holy Comforter hosted its first “science in the summer” program drawing elementary children from all over the county for two weeks of science enrichment and fun. The program was deemed a success.
Holy Comforter is proud of the recently formed M.O.P.S. program (Mothers of Preschoolers), which is an international organization of support, fellowship and spiritual growth for mothers of young children.
“As part of Holy Comforter’s commitment to the young families of our community, we are also in the early stages of developing a preschool academy to serve the greater Johnson County area. This preschool would provide a nurturing environment in the Christian tradition with a strong academic foundation to prepare young children for school,” said Father Jonathan Duncan, who has completed his first year as priest at Holy Comforter.
Members are enthusiastic about the coming years under the direction of Duncan and encourage others to participate in the religious experience available to all at the Episcopal Church.
