At 10:19 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 16, the Crowley Police Department called the Burleson Police Department to request assistance after a bank robbery that occurred in Crowley. The suspect was reportedly seen entering a residential area in Burleson.
The location was a vacant house in the 100 block of Phlox Lane in Burleson.
Officers from Burleson and Crowley set up a perimeter around the home, and neighbors in the vicinity were told to stay inside.
The city called the Burleson Independent School District and at least one nearby church to advise them of the situation.
Durham Transportation, which buses the school district’s children, rerouted buses around the neighborhood.
Burleson’s SWAT team was activated, and Burleson deployed the mobile command unit and Lenco Bearcat four-wheel-drive armored vehicle. The Burleson Fire Department and MedStar ambulance were put on standby.
The SWAT team attempted to make contact with someone inside the two-story brick home on Phlox several times, then the home was searched. No suspect was found and that scene was cleared at 1:59 p.m.
Officers subsequently searched two homes on Blazing Star Trail without success.
Officers cleared the neighborhood at about 4 p.m., but the K-9 unit was still in the neighborhood shortly after 6:30 p.m.
