The Burleson Lady Elks missed a chance to pull within a game of fourth place with a 33-32 loss to Crowley on Friday.
The win moved the Lady Eagles to 6-3 in district play and Burleson fell to 3-6. Crowley used a 14-8 run in the fourth quarter to pull the win out.
Burleson led, 9-5, after the first quarter and 16-14 at halftime.
Morgan Landers finished with eight points for Burleson and Mackenzie Hailey had seven. Lindsay Bryan and Bridgette Fierro each finished with six points and Jordan Rodgers pitched in three. Lauren Amos had two.
Mishayla Williams led Crowley with 10. Burleson is back in action at 6:30 tonight at home against No. 4 Mansfield Summit.
The Burleson Elks fell to 2-5 in District 7-4A play on Friday after a 52-32 loss to Crowley on the road.
Crowley soared to a 14-2 lead in the first quarter before Burleson clawed to within 19-12 at halftime. Crowley scored just five points in the second quarter but exploded with a 27-9 run in the third quarter to take control of the game.
The Eagles led, 46-21, at the start of the fourth quarter.
Deondre Ray led Crowley with 17 points and Le’Tron Manning had 16. Kyle Wilson finished with 11.
Nathan Johnson and Turner Schwarz finished with nine points each and Lance Forehand had seven.
