Alfred and Carolyn Harwell of Rio Vista, Texas, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a surprise party hosted by their children on Aug. 27, 2011, at the lakehouse of George and Margaret Marti in Cleburne, Texas.
They were married Sept. 1, 1961, in Rio Vista, Texas, at the home of J.W. and Marie Harwell and have lived in Johnson County for more than 65 years.
Alfred is retired from Santa Fe Railroad in Cleburne where he worked for more than 30 years. He also served in the U.S. Army.
Carolyn worked for Marti Electronics for more than 20 years and still helps George and Margaret Marti.
They have two children, Tracy and Jackie Findley and Tony and Delayna Harwell of Rio Vista, Texas.
They also have nine grandchildren, Scotty and Ashley Findley, Chris and Lorena Findley, Amanda Findley, Ali Harwell, Stetson and Halston Harwell and Callista Holmesly.
They have five great-grandchildren, Autumn Adrin, Shooter and Addison Findley and Zoey and Emma O’Neal.
We would like to thank all of our friends and family who came to share our special day. Alfred and Carolyn were honored with the presence of her father, Horace Taylor.
