AIS hosts Career Day

It is never too early to start thinking about a career, so Alvarado Intermediate School counselor, Tina Herrera, coordinated the school’s first Career Day last week.

Professionals from the community, including a fire fighter, police officer, pilot, horse trainer, engineer, veterinarian, insurance agent and many others, spent five minutes with each class.

The visitors were able to explain their job and what it took to work in their occupation.

“I wanted to have a career day so the students could broaden their vision about their future,” Herrera said. “I have so many students tell me they want to be NFL players or famous singers when they finish school.

“I wanted to show them other possibilities that could be very interesting and helpful to our society. I think it is important for children to know what they do now impacts their future.”
