— Football was in the air this weekend as Johnson County teams hit the field for the first time in 2010.

This year the Times-Review is aiming to make football season even more exciting with the launch of Friday Night Central, a website dedicated to keeping Johnson County football fans in the game with instant updates throughout the game and news and notes throughout the week.

“We are excited to unveil this new website that will allow readers to keep updated with their favorite football teams, not only on Friday nights, but throughout the week,” Publisher Kay Helms said. “Our staff will update it continually, but we encourage the community to become involved and submit their own photos as well.”

Each Friday night and throughout the week, visit www.fridaynightcentral.com to check out the schedules, scores and rosters for your favorite teams, as well as photo galleries. Stadium maps of each school are also available.

Alvarado, Burleson, Cleburne, Crowley, Godley, Grandview, Joshua, North Crowley and Rio Vista each have their own page with four sections: a homepage, roster, stadium map and photo submission page.

Each homepage will feature a photo gallery and the team’s season record and district standing. Comments can also be made on each team’s page using Facebook.

“Any information you might need about the teams is available,” said Dale Gosser, managing editor. “From the roster to maps, we’ve got it all on the site.”

To see scores of all current games, click on “Scoreboard” at the top left of the page. Final scores will be left on the site for several days after the game.

Users can also submit photos to appear on the their team’s website. To submit photos, click on submit photos in the left column on the team’s site. Upload the photos individually. Size does not matter, as the site will automatically adjust them to the necessary height and width.

Submitted photos will appear online once approved by Times-Review editors.

Action shots of the game to scene setters, such as a group tailgating or the band or the cheerleaders, can really tell a story. Friday Night Central gives readers a chance to tell theirs.

“We hope that users will use this tool and share their photos with other readers,” Gosser said. “Some photos may end up being published in the Times-Review and Burleson-Crowley Connection.”

Writers and photographers will be on the sidelines of the games in black fridaynightcentral.com shirts during the season. If you have any questions about the site, find one of them or call the office at 817-645-2441.

Not all games can be staffed, depending on where they are held. If you would like to volunteer to help with scoring updates throughout the season, e-mail dgosser@trcle.com.
